Good for Galipeau

But keep your barf bags handy for McGuinty’s reaction

An Ottawa MP has apologized after being accused of assaulting another MP from the city in the House of Commons Wednesday.

Conservative MP Royal Galipeau crossed the floor toward Liberal MP David McGuinty Wednesday afternoon, against parliamentary rules, after McGuinty accused him of not speaking against the government decision last fall to scrap the court challenges program, which is intended to protect francophone citizens.

"The member was clearly out of control, using unparliamentary language, and in a threatening fashion grabbed my left shoulder and only left my side when several of my colleagues urged him to stop and to leave," said McGuinty, who represents Ottawa South.

No doubt McGuinty the Lesser will stage an impromptu news conference, sporting the usual expression of pained piety he wears like a neck brace on a phoney car accident plaintiff.

Apologized - as he should have. A little anger management and truth serum is badly needed in the CPC.

What a bunch of immature monkeys they are.

Grow up Harper and gang of bobble-heads. Parliament is for grown ups.

anonymous....they have quick tempers because they have to listen to baiters like Dalton jr. insult them and call them out day after day..

Funny though, the only time i can really remember anyone being assaulted was when your Hero Chretien strangled a mentally disturbed homeless man...

You libs really have to watch those outbursts, and perhaps it is you who should seek anger counseling

Who hasn't felt like charging up to David, grabbing him by the shoulders, and giving him a shake? I doubt I'd have stopped there!

Another anonymous Lib blogger popping off...amazing how none of them have the stones to sign a name.

Are you kidding me? I hope you do not have children, and if you do, you do not teach them that it is OK to physically assault someone because you do not like what they are saying.

Do you even listen to what the conservatives say in QP?

No, Chretien didn't strangle the homeless guy -- he couldn't, because he totally made him up.

It was poor Bill Clennet whom he throttled with a "Shawinigan handshake."

Royal Galipeau wears two hats in the House of Commons:
1) As an MP - okay, what he did was stupid, he apologized; MP's do stupid things.
2)As a Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada, he is required to maintain and enforce the rules of the House. HUH!! He has clearly shown that he cannot even follow the rules of the House he's supposed to enforce. He must resign as Deputy Speaker. There MUST be a ZERO tolerance attitutde towards VIOLENCE in our House if Commons. If not, we will start to look like the Taiwanese Parliament.

Jack Bauer would have... executed him.

Sandra "Lady Churchill" Pupatello (Windsor West's Mrs. Jack Bauer) would have thrown the MP to the ground and then dictated terms with her shoe on his vocal chords until security arrived. I guess David McGuinty didn't have ball bearings attached at the critical moment against a Conservateur who crossed more than a few lines.

That said, otherwise I'm cheering on PM Harper and his Conservatives. They get things done and fight the Global War on Terror instead of sniping at one another...

From Leftdog: "As a Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada, he is required to maintain and enforce the rules of the House."

It also means that he must refrain from engaging in partisan debate - a fact McGuinty knows, but chose to ignore to score an unfair political kick in the groin.

Galipeau apologized for his transgression. I'm not holding my breath for the pious McGuinty to do the same
